Mixed results for fish oil in patients with hemodialysis grafts

KEY POINT

Among patients with new synthetic arteriovenous grafts for hemodialysis, daily supplementation with fish oil did not decrease the proportion of grafts with loss of patency at 1 year, according to a recent study. However, some beneficial effects were observed in measures of secondary outcomes, including a longer time without thrombosis, a lower thrombosis rate, and a reduction in corrective interventions.
