No cognitive benefit with omega-3s, antioxidants in older adults

KEY POINT

Supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids (i.e., DHA/EPA), lutein/zeaxanthin, zinc, or beta carotene over a 5-year period had no significant benefits on cognitive function in a sample of older patients, according to results from the AREDS2 (Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2) trial.
