Omega-3 supplementation may help treat major depression

KEY POINT

In a double-blind, randomized, placebocontrolled trial, omega-3 fatty acids supplementation with eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) significantly reduced the number of major depressive episodes (MDEs) reported by patients with major depression without a comorbid anxiety disorder.
