Dabigatran: More effective, safer than warfarin

Treatment with dabigatran was associated with a lower risk of stroke compared with warfarin, and since dabigatran does not require international normalized ratio (INR) monitoring, it may be preferred in instances where such monitoring is problematic, according to a subanalysis of RE-LY (Randomized Evaluation of Long-Term Anticoagulation Therapy) recently reported in Lancet.
