DENND1B associated with susceptibility to asthma in children

KEY POINT

A meta-analysis of two genome-wide association studies and a targeted gene analysis in children with moderate-to-severe asthma revealed a novel gene, DENND1B, that is associated with susceptibility to asthma in persons of North European ancestry and persons of African ancestry. DENND1B interacts with tumor necrosis factor alpha and is responsible for the release of cytokines.
