Vitamin D supplementation may improve inhaled corticosteroid effects in children with asthma

KEY POINT

In children with asthma treated with inhaled budesonide (Pulmicort—AstraZeneca), vitamin D deficiency was linked to poorer lung function over a 12-month period than higher vitamin D levels. A similar association was not seen in children treated with nedocromil or placebo.
