Statins not associated with cognitive impairment, memory loss

KEY POINT

Statin therapy was not associated with increased incidence of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or impairment in cognitive performance according to a comprehensive analysis of published literature. The rate of cognitive-related adverse events associated with statins reported to FDA databases was similar to those observed with losartan and clopidogrel during the same time period.
