Patient characteristics may predict inadequate bowel preparation

KEY POINT

Select patient characteristics such as a history of constipation, cirrhosis, diabetes, stroke or dementia, opioids use, and tricyclic antidepressant use were associated with a higher risk of inadequate bowel preparation for colonoscopy, according to the results of a large systematic review and meta-analysis published in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
