Cardiovascular Disease Common in Patients Misdiagnosed with Epilepsy

KEY POINT

For patients who are not responding to treatment with anticonvulsant medications, consider referring them to a cardiologist. In a recent study, 42% of patients who failed antiepileptic therapy were found to have a cardiovascular disorder—not epilepsy.
