Inappropriate use, dosing of cough/cold meds in children persist despite FDA warnings

KEY POINT

The majority of caregivers with children under age 6 presenting to an emergency department (ED) for treatment of cough/cold symptoms were unable to appropriately select and dose an OTC cough/cold product for their child in a recent study. Most caregivers were unaware of potential adverse effects, drug interactions, and recent warnings with these agents.
