Debunking the myths of serotonin syndrome

KEY POINT

Results of a meta-analysis of case reports of serotonin syndrome indicated that this syndrome may not be captured by current criteria systems, may develop quickly or slowly, and may or may not be associated with hyperthermia. In addition, the differential diagnosis between serotonin syndrome and neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) may not always be clear-cut.
