Irinotecan: New Agent for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

KEY POINT

Weekly treatments of irinotecan (Camptosar—Pharmacia) are being added to chemotherapy regimens for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. A topoisomerase I inhibitor, irinotecan provides the first advance in therapy for this condition since the development of fluorouracil.
