Antipsychotics: Poor early response predicts later treatment failure

KEY POINT

A less than 20% reduction on either the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) or Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) after 2 weeks of treatment with antipsychotics for schizophrenia was highly predictive of failure to respond to treatment over the long term, according to results of a large meta-analysis.
