Methylprednisolone: Longer Course Somewhat More Effective for Severe COPD Exacerbations

KEY POINT

In patients experiencing severe exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a 10-day course of methylprednisolone produced several superior clinical outcomes when compared with a 3-day regimen of this systemic glucocorticoid. But the longer course failed to provide any long-term benefit over the next 6 months.
